Foulées de la Cappadoce

2008 will see the launch of a new project for SDPO – Les Foulees de la Cappacoce, a raid-style race in Turkey – at the crossroads of the East and the West, a country two continents and washed by the waves of four seas

To run in Cappadocia – that is the plan. A change of scenery, an enchanting setting, all at a competitive price. Eight days in which you take part in two universes. Running in the East? Running in the West? Don’t ask, just open your eyes, you will be won over by them both. You will be staying in high quality hotels, your evenings – what will take your fancy? Learning the folklore, listening to the romantic ballads? Relaxing by the poolside? Or enjoying the experience of a Turkish bath, a massage, or even a hookah?

The race: The 5 stages range from 15 to 25 kilometres following the thread of history: the Assyrians, the Hittites, the Persians, the Romans – it all happened here. Run or walk along the Anatolian plateau, amid the caravans, alongside the whirling dervish. Refresh yourselves in the cool of subterranean dwellings, admire the rock churches, and experience the Islamic religion in a secular state.
Take a tour of Istanbul - its minarets and sunsets, the Blue Mosque, Saint Sophia’s church, the Grand Bazaar – the crossroads at the Bosphorus between East and West.
